Al-Tabqa women make their own entity

Some of them marched towards the spring of budding freedom and others sent their sons to fight their battles before they reached their desired goals, such as Hanaa and Fatimah. The victors celebrated the achievement on May 10 last year, committing themselves to follow the prescribed path and follow the example of precedents. Thus, protecting women from injustice and oppression of the situation was a priority that women of al-Tabqa sought and decided to establish a council for women.

Intellectual struggle

"Since its opening on July 19, 2017, five committees have been formed to deal with women's issues like awareness of the rights and duties including dozens of seminars and intellectual lectures such as the Kongra Star in the democratic nation, cultural and guidance meetings to seek to secure the livelihood and employment opportunities for women to resolve family differences and provide psychological and moral support for women through the reconciliation committee, which was known as an unprecedented success where the wise and reformer women appeared gaining admiration of a wide range of civil society. "

 Wide participation in various fields

After about a year, the Women's Council continues to carry out clear tasks not only with regard to women but also to a more comprehensive social action that addresses environmental issues, including the participation of clean-up campaigns and participation in the forestation campaign, as well as the distribution and dissemination of awareness leaflets to the Young Women's Union of the Women's Council in providing letters of advice and guidance to the daughters of compatriot for a better future and warning of the dangers of negligence and decay in the framework of the campaign "Revolt."

A firm presence in decision-making

The women's effectiveness in al-Tabqa was not confined to the council, but it has come a long way in the political and administrative fields through the establishment of the principle of the co-chairs which guarantees women a distinct participation in developing themselves in a broader context that places at the top of its priorities the development of society. Women are demanding their duties in parallel with their rights in terms of historical and moral responsibility.

Women are at the top of the legislative, executive, political and administrative scene in the democratic civil administration of al-Tabqa like co-chairs of both legislative and executive boards and on the top of the organizational hierarchy of all committees in force such as health, education, municipalities and defense to all governing bodies such as the economic and political body.

A surge in defense

In this regard, member of the Internal Security Forces Amani al-Sulaybi believes that the boundaries of women should not only depend on the civilian areas, but should also lead them to the security and military professions. Many did not expect to see a woman armed and wearing a military jacket or security vested in protecting the security of her cities and villages.

On 12 October, the Women's Protection Units announced the formation of the first female military battalion in al-Tabqa called "Martyr Haboun Arab" who martyred during battles against Daesh in the liberation campaign launched by the Syrian Democratic Forces city to liberate al-Raqqa last year.

Women today have the ability to establish their own security centers after graduating training courses, which have been able to develop their potential through one year of freedom after the elimination of IS to provide a vivid and tangible model of genius stripped of restrictions and rooted entity.

National and humanitarian role

Tabqa women were subjected to the challenge of years of grief, poverty and suffering, which challenged hunger by bread, poverty by agriculture, ignorance by science and sadness by hope.

The awareness exceeded the political and geographical horizons for the women of al-Tabqa to play their national and humanitarian role. They held protest vigils against aggressive practices, went out in solidarity rallies, and expressed their words and meanings before starting the material support. They had the highest share and the greatest chance on two simultaneous occasions. One was a sit-in tent and a strike to express solidarity with the people of Afrin and Ghouta and the second fund-raising tent to help the displaced from the practices of the Turkish occupation of Afrin.

Last but not least, al-Tabqa women did not stand after a year of liberation on the above-mentioned achievements, but there are still wide horizons waiting for them. What women are sowing today will be reaped tomorrow.
