Academic: Hamas seeks to present itself as alternative to PLO

The Palestinian academic and researcher Dr. Fadi Nassar evaluated the Palestinian division that began with the victory of Hamas in the elections held in 2006 until the military coup in 2007 and the extension of Hamas's full control over Gaza Strip and the goals that Hamas seeks to reach.

Hawar news agency (ANHA) in an interview with Dr. Nassar, he said that since Hamas joined the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) through the 2006 elections and reached a reconciliation agreement under the auspices of the Egyptian side, it is demanding the lion's share of (PLO) National Council.

He pointed out that Hamas saw the postponement of the Council as a good opportunity to deal with the reconciliation entitlements until new elections could be held in which it could repeat the experience of the legislative elections in 2006. "Palestinian history attests that every faction that falls below the leadership of the organization does not return to it."

Nassar said that during the past few days, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has said that 20 thousand civil servants from Gaza government have come to Gaza Strip, such as pressure on Hamas, no more than an attempt by the president to hold Hamas responsible for the failure of reconciliation and Egyptian efforts and expose it before the Palestinian street noting that the movement is exploiting reconciliation for special partisan agendas.

On the statements made by Hamas leaders, Dr. Fadi Nassar said that "despite the confusion in the statements of some of the movement's leaders between supporters and opponents of the accusations against the Palestinian authority and presidency, the head of the movement's political bureau in Gaza Strip, Yahya al-Sawwar, is seen on the street in Gaza as a man of reconciliation In the movement, but in the end there are institutions for decision-making within the movement cannot pass or to others beyond the broad lines."

Dr. Nassar explained the contradicting statements of the leaders of the movement that it comes from the door of the exchange of roles and the use of the theory of tension and relaxation.

At the end of his speech, the academic and researcher in the Palestinian affairs, Dr. Fadi Nassar, stressed that both Hamas and Islamic Jihad and popular resistance will not accept seats that were left vacant because they feel that those seats were allocated to them as if doing them a favor!
