Ilham Ahmed: international promises about Afrin

Hawar news agency has held a meeting with the Co-chair of Syrian Democratic Council on the latest political and military developments on the Syrian arena.

Ilham Ahmed said that attacks by Syrian regime and its pro-Syrian militias on the positions of Syrian Democratic Forces(SDF) were aimed at the democratic nation's project, "while (SDF) are preparing for the liberation of the remaining lands east of the Euphrates from Daesh."

"Our forces have responded to these attacks and repelled them, and such attacks must not happen again."

Russian-Turkish and Iranian alliance must return to Geneva track

"New alliances have emerged in the area with the collapse of other alliances," she said. "These alliances will come about and what will emerge is not clear yet, but it is clear that the Russian, Turkish and Iranian alliance must take Geneva the basis for negotiations on the Syrian crisis, the Syrian parties and components must participate in them, if all parties are not involved in these negotiations, the crisis will last longer.”

Regarding the statements of the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu during his meeting with the new US State Secretary, Mike Pompeo, on the understanding with US side on a roadmap to go to Manbij, Ahmed said, "In crises, there are always surprises and we cannot count on anyone in this regard, in the event of such understandings between the Turkish and American sides regarding Manbij, America will remove from under it the pillar on which it is based in the area.

On the news that the faction of the so-called Islam Army, supported by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is heading to al-Raqqa city, and their situation on such a step if it occurs, Ahmed said, "We will not accept such a step without the consent of the components of the area and coordination with its administrations, but these projects do not consider solutions to the crisis but exacerbate it.

There are international promises about Afrin

On the diplomatic meetings with the international parties on the issue of the occupation of Turkey to Afrin, Ilham Ahmed explained that "there are meetings with international parties and delegations coming to North Syria, the situation of the people of Afrin always is on the table of our discussions with those parties. There are international promises to exert political pressure on Turkey to withdraw from Afrin, and we have a proposal on the return of our people in Afrin under the protection of international peacekeepers to their homes again."

"The Syrian crisis will be further exacerbated by the absence of projects to resolve the crisis by the parties to the conflict in Syria, and if there are no international consensus on resolving the Syrian issue, the war and the conflict will continue and deepen," she said.
