Colby: Our response to Turkish occupation should be holding national congress

The Turkish state expanded a few days ago in new territory of the region of southern Kurdistan, carried out air strikes, occupied eight new mountain peaks, and penetrated a depth of 20 km in the territory of the region amid the silence of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi government.

The political analyst and candidate for the Iraqi parliament on the list of the new generation in the region of southern Kurdistan Kamran Colbi spoke to the news agency Hawar ANHA on the occupation of Turkey to new territory in the territory of southern Kurdistan. Colbi pointed in a lengthy interview to the ambitions of Turkey in neighboring countries, especially the occupation of Kurdish territories. The following is the full text of the interview:

*How do you evaluate the Turkish expansion in the region of southern Kurdistan and the construction of new military bases, and what is the purpose of this expansion?

Turkish expansion is not new in southern Kurdistan, because with the emergence of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in power in the region, the Turkish state was able to breach the political decision of this party because the weakness is to obtain material concessions and remain at the top of the pyramid of power in the region.

The KDP encouraged such a step by the silence of the traditional parties in the region, which also lacked the preservation of national unity and work to build a unified Kurdistan from the diplomatic point of view and the right decision.

*Do you think Turkey is seeking to expand its borders and include areas of the Kurdistan region to it?

When the United States brought Turkey out of the process of liberating Mosul and liberating al-Tabqa, Erdogan realized that Turkey's position was weak with its ally the United States. The Turkish state began threatening the European Union to open the door to immigration to Europe if it did not comply with Turkey's demands.

Erdogan, in agreement with Russia, began the brutal attack on Afrin before the eyes of the world so that Turkey could impose its will on the American presence on the territories of Rojava and northern Syria.

As for the Turkish expansion in the region, this is possible. In fact, Turkey's military strength within the territory of the region in the south has become a bitter reality, welcomed by its ally the Kurdistan Democratic Party headed by Massoud Barzani, who signed a secret and partisan agreement to sell the oil of the region for 50 years.

The expansion of Turkey is not new, but the roots of these ideas extend to the time of the Ottomans and Erdogan represents this approach today in front of the world.

*If Turkey expands in the region of southern Kurdistan, do you think that the region will only be harmed or is Turkey seeking to include the Kurdistan region to it?

The idea of ​​including the land is a legacy inherited by the Turkish parties from their Ottoman ancestors, as we have already pointed out: Greek Cyprus has been occupied for decades and the whole world is watching.

Turkey's expansionist ambitions in the region will lead to the collapse of the entire Turkish state because Erdogan has hysteria in front of his adversaries. He addresses America and European countries in the language of threat and intimidation because he represents the legacy of his ancestors.

*How do you explain the silence of the Kurdistan Regional Government towards the Turkish ambitions in the region?

In the region, there is a governmental and political vacuum, because the majority of the parties were partners in the government of Niçîr (meaning Niçîrvan Barzani), who represents the Democratic Party today outside the political process, so we can say that the region is amidst an exceptional state considering the region’s parliament and administration since the true decision-maker is the KDP not the government and parliament.

If Prime Minister Niçîrvan Barzani represented the Kurdistan Democratic Party in his policies and not the Kurdish people in the region, we would not be surprised by his unilateral decisions towards the entry of the Turkish army and welcome such a dangerous step to the territorial integrity of the region.

* Not only the Kurdistan region and Rojava but Turkey is seeking to undermine the Kurdish presence everywhere, in these circumstances do not you see that it is necessary to hold the Kurdistan national congress, and form a political front and a unified Kurdish military?

Turkey today is not a country that believes in the principle of coexistence between the nations, contrarily, Turkey represents the whims of a person; Erdogan, so today we see the Turkish state is diplomatically isolated and economically collapsed, because the Turkish currency is in a low position and in a daily decline against the dollar. Turkey has reached a thankless state, from the security point of view as tourism has deteriorated, which pushed Erdogan to commit political folly in Afrin and waving the entry of Manbij and the threat of the Iraqi government on Şengal.

In front of all this reality, it requires us as a Kurdish people to unite and stand together against Turkish ambitions. This is what we emphasized as the new generation movement in the region during our meeting with the parliamentary delegation of the Democratic Peoples Party (HDP), which visited us two days ago.

Holding talks is the only way to get us to take our rights as a Kurdish people. Foreign diplomacy and genuine representation of the people in international forums is also the main pillar in defining our cause for the EU and the Arab and Islamic world in general.

The Kurdistan National Congress is the only outlet for reunification of ranks and the legitimate representation of a people of more than 40 million people, which is the best response to the occupation of Turkey by the territory of the Kurdistan region.
