Women Revolt for Afrin’s 2nd stage announced

Kongra Star in Afrin canton issued a written statement announcing the launch of the second stage of the Women Revolt for Afrin campaign in Berxwedan camp in the areas of al-Shahba, and dozens of members of Kongra Star and women of Afrin canton attended.
The statement issued by Kongra Star in this regard was read by Rabrin Khalil in Kurdish and Nariman Hussein in English.

The text of the statement included:

“Afrin has become a symbol of the revolution of women and the revolution of the peoples, a symbol of democracy and pluralism. Since the beginning of history, Afrin has been a cradle for the protection of human values such as agriculture, social life, the solidarity and vanguard of women. The first revolution of women started from this geography, and with the imposition of masculine authority, the first persecution against the body, culture and existence of women and society was looted, and the land and values ​​of the gods (Taratha and Ishtar) were stolen. The masculine authority and the occupation armies strive at imposing surrender on women, society and nature through the repression practiced against culture, and through repression, rape and enslavement.

The women in Rojava Revolution revolted against this bloody regime, and by their resistance against the repression of the occupying countries, as well as mercenaries of IS and al-Nusra, the women were able to liberate the land of the gods (Taratha and Ishtar). Since 2011, women have led the construction of the Democratic Autonomous Administration and free system which have been accepted in recent years by all the peoples of North Syria. In this way, the revolution of women and society that was embodied in Rojava has become a source of inspiration, hope and an example for the peoples and women of the world.

The genocidal attacks launched by the fascist Turkish state and its mercenaries in January 20, 2018 against Afrin canton continue to this day with all their might. During the shelling that targeted our cities and villages, hundreds of women, men, children and elderly people lost their lives and hundreds were wounded. Houses, fields, and holy and historical places were also destroyed by the Turkish army’s attacks. The occupiers destroyed and looted our homes and practiced various forms of torture, murder, rape and oppression against our women and our society. European countries, as well as Russia and America that supported the attacks of the Turkish army militarily and politically, and these countries, in particular the state of Russia which made a deal with the Turkish fascist regime are responsible for the massacres committed in Afrin.

International institutions such as the United Nations and the European Union have also supported these inhumane practices through their silence. As Afrin women, we would never forget this dirty international alliance.

We also strongly condemn these international forces. In order to avoid the danger of a major genocide, we, about 200,000 people, were forced to displace from Afrin and leave our homes starting from March 18. Since then, we have been living in difficult circumstances without providing any protection or humanitarian assistance by the international organizations. We live in the areas of al-Shahba and continue resisting there. We insist on escalating resistance and struggle until the liberation of Afrin from the occupying and fascist Turkish state. With this aim, we announce the launch of the second stage of the campaign "Women Revolt for Afrin."

Our goals and demands:

- The United Nations (UN), international institutions and human rights organizations must do their responsibilities to ensure the protection and provide the humanitarian needs for Afrin's people.

- They also must end the Turkish occupation of Afrin and ensure the safe return of the people to their free land.

- Whoever responsible for the crime of occupation and all those involved in the crimes of raping, murdering, looting, and committing massacres against the people and women of Afrin must be judged before the international courts specialized to war crimes.

We appeal to all our sisters and comrades, and all the women of the world:
- Women, revolt to escalate our resistance together to liberate Afrin.

- Combine the ranks of women to repel the fascism and massacres committed against women, and to reach the revolution of women everywhere.

- Afrin is everywhere, resistance is everywhere.
