14 people killed in Syria through one day

At least 14 people were killed in Syria within 24 hours in a series of separate incidents, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

In the eastern Idlib countryside, a man was killed by a landmine explosion left over from the war while cleaning a well in the village of Abu Dafna. In the southern Sweiyda countryside, the body of a guard was found dead near the "Fourth Well" near the town of al-Raha.

Four civilians, including a child, were killed in the Latakia countryside by gunmen loyal to the Damascus government while working on their farmland. In the western Homs countryside, a young man was killed by direct gunfire after an armed group stormed his village.

In Qardaha, the body of a young man was found in a lake days after he was kidnapped by gunmen wearing Damascus security uniforms. Meanwhile, a child died in the city of Sanamayn, north of Daraa, from a stray bullet during an assassination attempt.

In the village of al-Dour, west of Sweiyda, clashes erupted between relatives, resulting in the deaths of two young men from the Druze sect. In the western Hama countryside, three brothers from the Alawite sect were shot dead by unknown assailants while on their farmland.

These incidents reflect escalating security tensions in areas under the control of the Damascus government, amid deteriorating conditions on the ground and the multiplicity of armed groups.
