The attack that ISIS began on September 15, 2014 was considered; From 3 axes towards the city of Kobani, one of the largest attacks launched by ISIS during the years it was active in Syria and Iraq, with the participation of thousands of mercenaries.

Fears of a recurrence of the Şengal tragedy in Kobani, which ISIS attacked weeks before the start of its attacks on Kobani, increased, as the People’s Protection Units and the Women’s Protection Units YPG-YPJ succeeded in evacuating approximately 300,000 people from the villages of Kobani, in light of the numerical and military superiority of ISIS and its advance towards the city and besieging it from the 3 axes ground, while Turkey surrounded the city from the northern side.

Declaration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Kobani Resistance

The people of the world realized the danger of ISIS’s control over the city, as millions of demonstrators around the world took part in 93 countries such as Argentina, Japan, Afghanistan, Egypt, Morocco and Turkey, along with most European countries, in massive protests. Governments called for action as dozens of male and female fighters defended the last neighborhoods of the city of Kobani, which was on the verge of falling completely into the hands of ISIS.

The International Day of Solidarity with Kobani was declared on November 1; Demonstrations swept the main roads in major cities around the world, airports, and in front of Turkish embassies, denouncing direct Turkish support for ISIS.

While the general mobilization announced by Leader Abdullah Ocalan on Imrali Island, which called on the Kurdish community to defend Kobani, constituted a decisive turning point in the battle that the Kurds considered “fateful.”

Dozens of young men and women entered the city to defend it. Coming from different regions of Northern, Southern and Eastern Kurdistan, along with international fighters from different countries around the world.

While the activities of the people in Northern Kurdistan, through the human wall they formed on the border with the city, played an important role in breaking the siege on the fighters from the northern side.

Kobani...ISIS's defeat is on the verge of disappearing

Nearly 6 years after the liberation of Kobani, with international support, the solidarity of components in northern and eastern Syria, under the banner of the Syrian Democratic Forces, succeeded in ending the geographical presence of mercenaries and liberating large areas of Syrian territory.

The Syrian Democratic Forces announced the defeat of ISIS in the country after the destruction of its last stronghold in the town of al-Baghouz in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria, on the border with Iraq, in March 2019.

The Turkish state continues the path of ISIS

Dozens of agencies, stations, and secret documents documented the strong relationship between Turkish intelligence and ISIS in a plan to control areas in Syria and Iraq, which failed, except for the tricky play between ISIS and the Turkish army in Jarabulus and al-Bab, as ISIS handed over northern Aleppo to Turkey without any significant battles or losses.

At a time when the Turkish state constitutes a launching den for thousands of mercenaries deployed in Syria, Iraq, and North Africa, the circle of danger is expanding against all countries of the world. The invasion that affected the regions of North and East Syria, through which Turkey was able to release dozens of the most dangerous terrorists in the world from the prisons of the Syrian Democratic Forces, in addition to ISIS families who fled in the hundreds from Ain Issa camp in northern Syria in October 2019.

“ISIS is over, but Turkey is not.”

In an interview conducted by ANHA agency in conjunction with the International Day of Solidarity with Kobani, member of the General Executive Board of the Democratic Union Party, Ahmed Khoja, points out the need for the international community to support the region in light of the attacks it is being exposed to, no different from the ISIS attacks in 2014.

He said: “In light of the ongoing attacks against the North and East region of Syria, we are in dire need of solidarity similar to what the Kobani Resistance witnessed during the ISIS attack, global solidarity and Kurdish unity to confront this enemy, in that spirit in which the residents of hundreds of cities around the world came out in solidarity with Kobani and the comprehensive Kurdistan movement.” “This way we can stand against this brutal enemy.”

In the national framework, Khoja directed to the Kurdistan parties, “What the Turkish state seeks is very clear, and accordingly I call on the Kurdish parties and parties to form national unity, and to escalate the struggle in all fields. This will be an appropriate response. It is the responsibility of all honorable Kurdish citizens to wage this struggle.” There is no way but resistance. In these difficult times, it is not possible to remain neutral. We are facing an unprecedented war of annihilation.”

Speaking about the international community and its role, Ahmed Khoja said, “The international community played an effective role in supporting the historical resistance in Kobani, because they realized that ISIS is a terrorist force that threatens the entire world, but I would like to point out that ISIS has ended and Turkey has not. Ankara is the source of global terrorism today. Therefore, the international community is required to take action and unify efforts against the practices of the Turkish state and its destructive role in the region and the world.”

“Attacks continue and dangers surround the region.”

The deputy co-chairmanship of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration in the Euphrates Region, Mezgin Khalil, says, “After the end of the battles to end ISIS control over the land and liberate all regions of North and East Syria from mercenaries, the battles with sleeper cells in coordination with the Coalition Forces are still continuing. But now the Turkish state, which presided over ISIS itself entered the war against our regions after the proxy war it carried out using ISIS failed, and Turkey occupied many of our areas in Afrin, Girê Spi/ Tal Abyed, and Serê Kaniye/ Ras al-Ain, and attacks against the region are still continuing on a daily basis with the aim of carrying out genocide and demolishing the Autonomous Administration.”

Mazgin Khalil confirms that "there are fears and dangers surrounding the region with the continuation of these attacks, which we see as not being normal, but rather very serious and resulting in many losses, martyrs, and wounded citizens."

She added, "The city of Kobani, with all the resistance and epics it lived through, has become a symbol of resistance and the pillar of eliminating ISIS with all the terrorism and fascism it represents and now, in front of the eyes of the world that united in Kobani to eliminate ISIS, which was not only a threat to our regions but to the entire world, attacks continue from Turkey's side is against our regions, in conjunction with international silence."

She explained that "a few days ago, Turkey carried out massive attacks from the air and targeted infrastructure in North and East Syria, despite the agreements concluded in 2019 to stop combat operations in the region, but now attacks and threats continue on a daily basis against the region."

International silence in the face of continued Turkish attacks”

Mezgin Khalil wonders about the reason for the international silence regarding the Turkish attacks, and says: “Why all this silence? Now all the laws and agreements that were concluded are being violated. The guarantor powers such as Russia and America did not play a role. On the contrary, the pace of the attacks carried out by Turkey has increased and they are now more dangerous than the attacks.” “Which was launched by ISIS, because Turkey was the one who founded, organized, and headed ISIS behind the scenes.”

She adds: "We tell the whole world that silence means participating with Turkey and giving it the green light to carry out attacks. We say that just as we liberated the city of Kobani from ISIS together after the people of the region wrote heroic epics, today these gains that were achieved on the ground must be protected."

Mezgin Khalil appealed to the world by saying: “Just as we turned the first of November into an international day of solidarity with the Kobani resistance, we must once again carry out our moral and emotional duty and adhere to our treaties so that we can end terrorism and stop the attacks of the Turkish occupation state, which also affect the operations of the final elimination of ISIS and its sleeper cells that it still poses a threat to the region and is constantly carrying out attacks in various areas.”
