A writer and literary critic was assaulted and physically tortured by Iranian authorities.

Writer and literary critic Mirkan Namavr sustained serious injuries as a result of assault and physical torture by Iranian authorities, according to Roj News Agency.

The Voice of Detainees in Eastern Kurdistan website published a statement confirming that the 38-year-old writer and literary critic was tortured by Iranian authorities and sustained serious injuries to various parts of her body.

The website stated that Mirkan is a resident of Hadasht, on the border between the cities of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad.

It is noteworthy that writer and literary critic Mehrgan Namavr was arrested by forces affiliated with the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence on March 2, 2024, and was later released.

However, on March 18, she was summoned again and detained for 16 days before being temporarily released on bail by the authorities.
