Writer Abdul Majid Khalaf appointed Director of Culture in Hasakah

It has been announced that writer and novelist Abdul Majid Muhammad Khalaf has been appointed as Director of the Culture Directorate in Hasakah Governorate, in a step aimed at strengthening cultural work and developing cultural programs and activities, contributing to the support of the artistic and cultural movement in the province.

A decision has been issued appointing writer and novelist Abdul Majid Muhammad Khalaf as Director of the Culture Directorate in Hasakah Governorate, where he will oversee the directorate’s work and follow up on the implementation of its cultural plans and programs.

This appointment comes within the framework of strengthening cultural institutions and raising the level of cultural activities and events, in a way that serves the cultural scene in the governorate, enhances the role of culture in preserving identity and heritage, and supports creativity and cultural initiatives.

Abdul Majid Muhammad Khalaf was born in the city of Qamishlo in 1978. He obtained a diploma from the Teachers’ Preparation Institute specializing in Arabic language in 1998, then earned a degree in Law from Al-Furat University in 2013.

He is known for his activity in cultural and literary fields, writing in literary criticism and Kurdish literature. He won the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity in its 14th edition in 2010 for his novel “The Choked Voice.”
