Women’s delegation concludes its visit to Southern Kurdistan

The women’s delegation from Rojava continued its tour in Southern Kurdistan by visiting several institutions and centers concerned with women’s affairs and combating violence, as part of efforts to strengthen relations, exchange expertise, and enhance joint coordination on women-related issues.

On June 30 and July 1, the delegation participated in a workshop on the development of human rights. The workshop discussed living conditions in Rojava and held discussions aimed at strengthening relations. The event was attended by a number of intellectuals, politicians, and writers, in addition to members of institutions affiliated with the Government of the Kurdistan Region.

The delegation also visited the Directorate for Combating Violence Against Women and Families, affiliated with the Ministry of Interior in the Kurdistan Regional Government. During the visit, the delegation met with the Director General of the directorate, Finik Shefiq Mohammed Amin, and Mirala Sevin Tahir. 

In addition, the delegation met with a number of women who had been subjected to violence and who were rescued from the war.

The women’s delegation, composed of the head of the Women’s Authority in Jazira, Rohat Khalil, and the co-chair of the Kurdish Red Crescent, Hadiya Mohammed Abdullah, arrived in Southern Kurdistan on June 28. On the following day (June 29), they met with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Supreme Council for Women and Development.

The visit of the delegation to Southern Kurdistan concluded today.
