"We Won't Stop"

For days, the squares of the cities and districts of Jazira Canton have witnessed a great momentum of participants in the hunger strike event, which comes in support of the hunger strikers in Turkish prisons, within the framework of the global campaign “Freedom for Abdullah Ocalan, the political solution to the Kurdish issue,” which was launched in 74 centers around the world, on October 10.

Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, women, men, youth, elders and children, each in his own language, went to the events chanting, “There is no life without the leader.” In an opinion poll, event participants indicated their reasons for participating.

Citizen Afra Abbas said: “The leader’s thought is the only hope for people, especially for women, to get rid of the male authoritarian mentality, which has brought us nothing but woes and problems.”

Afra Abbas emphasized that: “The leader’s thought gave women strength and will, freed us from slavery, and returned us to our true essence. Today, Arab women are proving their success in building society. They have even become leaders in all military, civil, economic, social, and diplomatic fields, and all of that is thanks to the leader’s thought.”

In his turn, the notable of the Tufahiyin clan in Tel Hamis, Ali Al-Hafil, praised the thought of the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and said: “With the thought of the leader, we, the Arabs, Kurds, Syriacs and Assyrians, became with each other in one trench, which made the Turkish occupation state increase the immoral and criminal practices against the leader Abdullah Ocalan, because she knows that this thought will be an obstacle to her and her Ottoman plans for Syria.”

Ali Al-Hafil pledged: "We will not stand idly by. Every day we see criminal practices against the leader, so we must escalate our struggle and we will convey our voice to the world and humanitarian organizations that this ideology is what made the people of North and East Syria victorious and be a role model."

The Amuda district witnessed a hunger strike that lasted for two days, in which many residents participated. Aziza Ahmed, one of the women who participated in the hunger strike tent, is the mother of the martyr Zana, who was martyred in the town of Jazaa in the countryside of Tel Hamis district. She said: “How do we stop the struggle? We will not stop the events and activities that demand the physical freedom of the leader. This is the least duty we can offer the leader for his struggle that has been going on for 50 years. Our freedom depends on his freedom, as his ideas are spreading among all the peoples of the world, and we will not be complacent and we will not abandon the squares until the leader’s physical freedom is achieved.”

Meanwhile, Munawar Khaled, a fifty-year-old resident of Amuda district, said about the policy of the Turkish authorities towards the leader Abdullah Ocalan by imposing strict isolation: “The goal of the isolation is to distance the people from the leader and sever the connection between them.”

Munawar Khaled stressed the continuation of the struggle until the leader’s physical freedom is achieved: “We will remain in the squares in loyalty to his struggle, because thanks to him, peoples learned their truth, their history, and their culture.

Citizen Mohammad Ahmed noted: “The peoples’ throats will continue to shout for freedom for Leader Abdullah Ocalan, because he represents the values of humanity, including a dignified and free life, and he is one of those who illuminated the paths for oppressed peoples.”

Regarding what called him to participate in the hunger strike event, Saleh Abdullah, the notable of the Arab Al-Walda clan in the North and East Syria, participating in the Arab popular costume in the hunger strike event, said: “Leader Abdullah Ocalan presented solutions that contributed to keeping our regions safe and far from regarding what the rest of the Syrian regions are witnessing, the leader granted us brotherhood, and this is why we must remain in a continuous struggle for it.”
