Warisha's health deteriorates, Iranian authorities refuse hospital transfer

In a statement, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network explained that the health condition of the Kurdish political detainee Warisha Moradi, who is sentenced to death, is extremely poor. She remains in Evin Prison without being transferred to a hospital for medical treatment, according to Roj News Agency.

The network noted that Warisha Moradi suffers from femoral bone diseases and brain problems. Doctors had previously confirmed that she requires surgery, but Evin Prison authorities have refused to transfer her to a hospital.

Warisha Moradi was arrested at the entrance of the city of “Sanna” in East Kurdistan on August 1, 2023. Thirteen days later, she was transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison in Tehran, where she was subjected to harsh interrogations, psychological pressure, and torture to extract confessions. After five months in solitary confinement, she was transferred to the women’s ward.

The first court sessions were held on June 16 and October 5, 2024, in Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran. Her lawyers were informed of the death sentence on November 10, 2024.

Warisha Moradi’s lawyers have appealed the verdict, and the case has been referred to Branch 9 of the Iranian Supreme Court, where it is still under review.
