Universities Council denies rumors of closure of Furat University –Hasakah Branch

The University Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria issued a statement today denying the validity of allegations alleging the administration's intention to close al-Furat University – Hasakah Branch. The statement read:

"Some biased media pages have recently circulated false and misleading news claiming that the Autonomous Administration will close al-Furat University – Hasakah Branch. We assure the public that these allegations are baseless and that the aim of spreading them is to destabilize security and stability and undermine the spirit of coexistence among the communities of North and East Syria.

On the contrary, the Autonomous Administration, through the University Council, is working to enhance the educational process and develop the university infrastructure. Rojava University will open new departments in the city of Hasakah in the coming period, with the aim of accepting more students and reducing the burden of travel to other cities.

As for students in the second, third, fourth, and fifth years at the University al-Furat -Hasakah Branch, they will continue their regular working hours under the university's management as before, with the University Council continuing to provide the necessary support to ensure the continuation of their studies, just as it did in the 2024/2025 academic year.

We call on all students and honorable citizens to ensure accuracy in conveying information, rely on official sources, and refrain from being swayed by rumors aimed at misleading public opinion.
