Rashdi said she is closely following reports of attacks targeting civilians and property in the city, emphasizing that these events signal further security deterioration if not addressed promptly.

She added that she is also monitoring the efforts of Syria’s transitional government to contain the situation and calm tensions, stressing the importance of protecting civilians and ensuring that the violence does not escalate.

Neighborhoods in Homs with a predominantly Alawite population are experiencing a cautious calm following hours of attacks by armed groups on unarmed civilians, involving indiscriminate gunfire, burning of homes, and destruction of shops, while the transitional government has imposed a full curfew in the city.
