Two Transitional Government fighters killed in Idlib within 24 hours

Assassinations continue in Idlib province, where a military trainer in the Transitional Government forces was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the city of Sarmada, north of the province — just hours after another fighter was killed in the Ma’arrat al-Numan countryside.

Idlib province witnessed two killings in less than 24 hours. A military trainer with the Transitional Government forces was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Sarmada, northern Idlib countryside.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the trainer was from the village of Talhou in the Jabal al-Hoss area of southern Aleppo countryside and had previously survived an assassination attempt near the city of al-Safira.

This came just hours after another member of the Transitional Government forces was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the Ma’arrat al-Numan countryside, southern Idlib.

Areas under the control of armed factions in Idlib have seen a rise in assassinations targeting military and security personnel, amid widespread lawlessness and the growing activity of unidentified armed groups.
