The Turkish authorities have arrested four journalists in Istanbul and Van, North Kurdistan.

The Turkish police launched house raids in both Istanbul and Van, resulting in the arrest of four journalists: Reyhan Hacioglu in Van, and Ahmed Gunesh, Necla Demir, and Rahime Kar in Istanbul. The reason for these arrests remains unknown.

Journalist Reyhan Hacioglu had previously been threatened by the police, who also threatened her colleagues in the apartment, saying, “Stay silent, or we will arrest you all, imprison you, and no one will hear your screams.”

During the raids, the police also confiscated the journalists’ equipment.
