On February 27 of this year, leader Abdullah Ocalan issued a call for peace and a democratic society, which received widespread welcome at global, regional, and even Arab levels.

This call came in response to the aspirations of a people who have been struggling for more than four decades to obtain their rights, restore the alliance between peoples on democratic foundations, and establish peace in the region.

A member of the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, Badran Hamo, described the call as historic and considered it one of the most important and prominent milestones in the history of the Kurdish cause, pointing out that it is the result of many years of sacrifices and resistance that Leader Abdullah Ocalan undertook before his abduction and afterward in Imrali prison.

The invitation and its motives

While Badran pointed to the motives behind the call, he said: "The leader clarified during his message his insistence on adhering to the language of dialogue and understanding instead of the language of war and bloodshed, as he is aware of the sensitivity of the stage and is working to avoid falling into historical mistakes. He also sought to establish stability in the region and strengthen the relations between the Turkish and Kurdish nationalities."

Regarding the stance of the surrounding environment, Badran pointed out that "the Kurdistan Freedom Movement responded to his call to lay down arms, and the Kurdish society in the four parts of Kurdistan accepted the reality of building a homeland through dialogue without resorting to brute and harsh force."

Badran explained: "But the Turkish scene remained unclear and did not respond to the call clearly. As is evident, through its continued attacks on the Mediya Defense Areas, which hinders peace."

Badran warned against the Turkish occupation state falling into the traps of countries seeking to dismantle the long-standing alliance between the Kurdish and Turkish peoples, emphasizing the necessity of respecting identities and adopting the language of peace to repair the fraternal relationship, preserve its existence, and regain its strength, and not to deny the prominent and important role of the Kurds.

He spoke about the fate of tyrants and occupiers: "Turkey must also realize that dictatorships with a denialist mentality, which are based on genocide and ethnic cleansing, are destined for extinction and downfall. It must reconsider itself, perhaps it will understand the dangers of continuing its hostility towards the Kurdish issue, and contribute to the call made by the leader to empower peace in the region."

Engaging in a spiritual and intellectual revolution

Member of the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, Amna Khadro, for her part, focused in her speech on the thoughts of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, describing them as enlightening and restoring rights to oppressed peoples.

Amna Khadro spoke about the values and principles on which the Kurdistan Freedom Movement was founded, saying: "Since its establishment, the Kurdistan Freedom Movement has always leaned towards the concept of peace, taking steps accordingly in an attempt to radically change the Kurdish reality, reorganize the historical relationship between the Turkish and Kurdish components, and restore the rights of a people whose freedom was taken from them."

Amina Khadro explained: "The unification of his land, which was divided by colonial schemes at the hands of authoritarian regimes, through engaging in an intellectual revolution that aligns with the aspirations of peoples yearning for freedom, and his projects expanded and he launched his theses."

Exceptional resistance

At the same time, Amna Khadro affirmed that the resistance of leader Abdullah Ocalan is exceptional, as it emerged under difficult conditions and immense pressures, saying: "Despite the leader's intensive efforts to stop the war, his announcement to lay down arms, and the initiation of a new phase of understanding and dialogue, Turkey has once again violated this initiative by continuing to launch attacks on the areas of resistance."

Amina Khadro noted: "The leader's theses are comprehensive and clear, meeting the historical social rights requirements of communities. The whole world has been influenced by them and has adopted them. The campaigns demanding his physical freedom are a result of his struggle and sacrifices, due to their belief in his ability to activate peace, promote harmony, achieve the rights of components, and empower the democratic society."

Amina Khadro confirmed that leader Abdullah Ocalan is a man of peace and capable of leading and succeeding in the peace process, as he bears the historical responsibility during this phase, pointing out that Turkey should approach this on the basis that there is a people who have been oppressed, yet have not given up their struggle.
