92 Days of Resistance at Tishreen Dam

In the face of the ongoing attacks by the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries on the Tishreen Dam and the Qarqozaq Bridge since December 8 of last year, the people of northeastern Syria have been resisting at the Tishreen Dam since January 8. The resistance fighters have been able to withstand the winter cold and all the occupation attacks for three months.

During the 92 days of this civil action, thousands of people from all ethnic groups in the region (Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, Syriacs, and Armenians), including youth, women, and the elderly, demonstrated great courage, determination, and perseverance.

The action continues, with residents taking turns from time to time, with groups from all cantons participating. Between January 8 and April 8, seven different groups from the Euphrates canton, six groups from the cantons of Tabqa, Raqqa, and Deir ez-Zor, and 14 groups from the Jazira canton, in addition to displaced people from Afrin, participated in the dam rotation.

Despite the intense cold, the protesters celebrated the anniversary of the international conspiracy targeting Leader Abdullah Ocalan on February 15, 1999, International Women's Day on March 8, the anniversary of the start of the Syrian Revolution on March 15, Newroz on March 21, and the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr at the dam.

Occupation Attacks

The attacks of the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries on Tishreen Dam have continued unabated since the start of the rotation. Their airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of 25 civilians, including journalists, politicians, administrators, and athletes, and the injury of 240 others.

On January 8, 2025, the Turkish occupation state bombed the first civilian convoy heading to Tishreen Dam, martyring Zozan Hammou, a member of the Zenobia Women's Gathering, Karam Ahmed Al-Shihab Al-Hamad, Azad Farhan Muhammad Hassan, Mustafa Abdi, Osman Ibrahim, and Ali Abbas Shasho.

On January 15, the Turkish occupation state bombed the Tishreen Dam workers again, martyring paramedic Omar Hassan, the couple Adham Mustafa Ali and Heza Muhammad, Osman Ibrahim, and student Roniz Muhammad Ali.

On January 16, civilian Mohammed Qasmo was martyred in a Turkish bombing of a civilian convoy heading to the dam.

On January 17, the Turkish occupation state bombed the civilian convoy again, killing paramedic Maher Jaafar Mahmid and Mohammed Hasso.

The bombing of the Tishreen Dam on January 18 resulted in the deaths of Akram Sheikhos Hussein Rakho, athlete Kevo Othman, co-chair of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) office in Qamishli, Manija Haidar, Qamishli City Council members Muzaffar Ramadan Mohammed and Abdul Qader Ibrahim, and Kurdish theater artist (Bafi Tayyar) Juma Ibrahim Khalil.

In the bombing of civilians at Tishreen Dam on January 21, Hazna Abdi and Muhyiddin Hussein Omar were martyred .

In the attack on Tishreen Dam on January 22, citizen Muhammad Shafiq Ismail was killed.

In the bombing of protesters at Tishreen Dam on January 25, young Muhammad Khalil Hamo was killed.

At noon on January 26, a Turkish occupation drone bombed civilians protesting at Tishreen Dam, wounding more than 34 civilians, including seven journalists, Samira Haj Ali, the co-chair of the Education Body in North and East Syria, and Hamrin Ali, the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Jazira Canton.

The Turkish occupation state targeted protesters at the Tishreen Dam again with a drone on February 15, martyring journalist Agid Roj, who was covering the residents' resistance.

The Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries began their attacks on the Tishreen Dam and the Qarqozaq Bridge on December 8, 2024. These attacks, which used warplanes, drones, artillery, rockets, and mortars, caused significant damage to the dam.
