Transitional govt forces block Tabqa-Salamiyyah road

The transitional government forces in Syria closed on Sunday morning Salamiyyah-Tabqa road, which is a vital artery linking the regions of North and East Syria with the Syrian interior through Athriya and Khanaser roads.

The travelers had resorted to the use of this road, despite its relative length, to head towards Aleppo city, after the closure of Deir Hafer - Aleppo road last September 27 by the transitional government forces.

Dozens of buses stopped at the road entrance in the city of Tabqa, in the hope of reopening it in the coming hours. According to the drivers stopped at the Tabqa crossing, the road was closed by barriers belonging to the transitional government forces by placing an earthen mound.

According to bus drivers who contacted correspondents, hundreds of cars and buses are still parked at the barriers, pending to be allowed to cross.

It is worth mentioning that the majority of travelers on these buses are university students and patients, especially cancer patients, who travel to receive treatment.
