Transitional government forces target 2 villages in western Sweida countryside

In a new violation of the ceasefire, Syrian transitional government forces targeted civilian homes in the villages of Ariqa and Al-Kharsa in the western countryside of Sweida last night, using heavy machine guns from their positions in the village of Dama, northwest of the city. No casualties or material damage have been reported so far.

This escalation follows a series of attacks in Sweida over the past 24 hours. Militants fired a heat-seeking missile at a vehicle loaded with vegetables near the village of Rasas in the southern countryside of Sweida, wounding civilians who were transported to a medical center for treatment.

In a separate incident, a truck driver from Damascus was killed after being shot at the intersection of the village of Kharba on the administrative border between Daraa and Sweida.

These ongoing violations reflect the escalating security risks threatening the lives of civilians in Sweida and its surrounding areas, at a time when the region is experiencing increasing tensions and the absence of any effective guarantees to protect residents from repeated attacks.
