12 people kidnapped on their way back to Sweida

Local sources reported to the Sweida 24 website that the number of civilians kidnapped in Daraa on their return to Sweida on Sunday has reached 12, more than half of whom are women and children.

The sources explained that the kidnapped civilians left Sahnaya in the Damascus countryside on a bus bearing Sweida city license plate number 864217. They headed to Sweida via the humanitarian corridor in the Busra al-Sham area in the Daraa countryside. The Syrian transitional government forces were supposed to allow the movement of civilians back and forth through this corridor, given the ongoing closure of the main Damascus-Sweida road for a month.

They added that after the bus reached the Kahil area east of Daraa, it was stopped by a group of armed men who hijacked the bus and its passengers in an area where the so-called "General Security" checkpoints affiliated with the transitional government are deployed.

The kidnapped individuals include three children (Karim Nasr, Jana Nasr, and Yara Arar), five women (Sawsan Nasr, Haya Nasr, Jihan Nasr, Rahaf Nasr, and Waad Noufal), bus driver Shadi Abu Dahan, and Alaa Arar, Al-Hassan Ksheik, and Imran Saab.

Sweida 24 reported, citing a source close to one of the kidnapped individuals, that contact between him and his relative had been cut off since the bus arrived in Daraa. The source indicated that informations about them are scarce, indicating that they have been kidnapped.
