Tishrin Dam Protesters: We won't back down

Residents of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria continue their protests at Tishrin Dam, driven by a spirit of resistance and sacrifice. They reaffirm their determination to defend their land and the hard-won achievements due to the sacrifices of martyrs and the courage of the region’s people.

Since January 8, 2025, the people of North and East Syria have sustained ongoing demonstrations at Tishrin Dam as part of their broader resistance efforts.

The protester Mohammad Salem emphasized that demonstrations and resistance will persist until their demands are met.

He declared, “ We will stay here, defending our rights until victory is achieved.” Salem further stressed that the protests are an extension of their commitment to protecting the region and resisting Turkish occupation efforts to assert control over Syrian territory.

Emphasizing the Defense of the Homeland and Achievements

Protester Koli Ramadan highlighted the fundamental objective of the protests: safeguarding the dam from Turkish attacks and its affiliated mercenaries. She stated, “We are here to continue our path in the footsteps of the martyrs, defending both the land and the people of this region.” Ramadan underscored that resistance will persist through all available means until the dam and surrounding areas are fully secured.

Determination to Protect the Land and Achievements

Similarly, the protester Hassan Ibrahim reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to resistance and struggle, vowing that they will not retreat until Turkish occupation attacks cease. He asserted, “Our primary goal in these protests is to protect our land and the achievements secured through the sacrifices of the martyrs, while also fostering unity among the region’s communities.”

Tishrin Dam is a strategic infrastructure site that provides water and electricity to many areas across North and East Syria. Turkish forces have been targeting the dam for over three months. However, the local population remains resolute in defending the dam against any assaults or attempts to seize control, viewing it as a symbol of resistance against occupation.

Support for the Syrian Democratic Forces

As part of the protest movement, residents reaffirm their unwavering support for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which continue their battles against Turkish occupation forces and their allied militias. Protesters emphasize that backing the SDF is an integral part of the national resistance to preserve their land and autonomy.
