"This process will succeed with the fight of women"

Armenian women told ANHA's agency about the necessity of the unity of women in this period, their involvement in political and social life, and their attempts to make this process a success.

"Women are struggling for freedom."

The co-chairmanship of the Armenian Youth Movement, Losnak Kavorian, stated that the current 14-year war in Syria has affected women more. She said, "The entire world is fearful of the voice of free women. The goal of Syrian women is to be the voice of truth and select their fate. But they are exposed to violence now. During the Ba'ath regime and the transitional government in Syria, women were overlooked and oppressed. But it has now become visible that Syrian women are strong and capable, through their resistance, of taking part in all fields and achieving their ambitions.

"Women constantly struggle for freedom and peace."

Losnak talked about the women's revolution in North and East Syria, referring to women's involvement in every field, their essential role, and their numerous achievements since the start of the July 19th Revolution.

Losnak concluded her speech by saying, "The patriarchal mindset can never be an impediment to women, and the success of this process must come through attaining equality and freedom."

"Women symbolize society."

For her part, Selda Simonyan, a member of the Armenian Women's Union, talked about them going through a very sensitive situation. She referred to the real victories and successes that women have achieved through their resistance and struggle, as they actually embody society on all administrative and social levels. She continued that Syrian women must strengthen their strength and participation in all areas.

Co-chair of the Armenian Community Council in North and East Syria, Areef Qassabian, emphasized the need for participation of all components in building the new Syria and the presence of women in all fields. Areef Qassabian explained that despite everything, there are still challenges and hurdles in front of Syrian women, saying, "Women have many aspirations, and thanks to the July 19th Revolution, women in North and East Syria have achieved many gains. Women can achieve their aspirations at this stage as well, through resistance and struggle."

Areef continued, "Despite all these developments, their journey has not been easy. Social and familial pressures have pushed some women to step back and retract, but most of them have continued with their work. Women have adhered to the formula of DAA, and thus prospered and confirmed their presence."

Areef made it clear that the building of peace and democracy requires guaranteeing the rights of all the components in Syria. She pointed out that to make this stage succeed, women in North and East Syria must develop their work and activities.
