The Democratic Union Party (PYD) held an expanded meeting in Tel Kocer city in Jazira canton with residents of the city and its towns to brief them on the latest political developments in the region and the peace and democratic society initiative led by Abdullah Ocalan.

Dozens of residents and clans' elders from the city, along with representatives from civil and service institutions, political parties, and military forces in the region participated in the meeting.

The meeting began with holding a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs. Then, Abdel Salam Abbas, the member of PYD's General Council, reviewed the latest political developments, noting that the region is currently witnessing a redrawing of the Middle East map according to the interests of dominant powers. This requires the peoples of the region to strengthen their unity and keep pace with developments to protect their gains.

Abbas made clear that Abdullah Ocalan launched the call for peace and a democratic society within the framework of the "Democratic Nation" project, which has proven its success in uniting peoples and protecting their achievements.

Abbas noted that the success of the Democratic Nation project in North and East Syria reflects tangible positive results in building a pluralistic society characterized by freedom and stability. He emphasized that the unity and solidarity of the region's components, alongside the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), constitute a guarantee against threats and attempts to sow discord.

The meeting concluded with an open discussion, during which attendees stressed that dialogue and negotiation are the best way to resolve crises, and affirmed their support for the SDF in protecting the region.
