Taliban announces the killing of 14 Pakistani soldiers

Fourteen Pakistani soldiers were killed and 11 others wounded in Taliban attacks in response to Pakistani airstrikes in the Afghan provinces of Kunar and Nangarhar.

The Ministry of Defense of the Afghan Taliban government announced today that its forces killed 14 Pakistani soldiers during cross-border attacks in response to recent Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan.

In a statement, the ministry said the attacks targeted border positions near the provinces of Kunar and Nangarhar, resulting in the injury of 11 additional soldiers, as well as the seizure of one Pakistani military post.

For its part, Pakistan acknowledged that the Taliban had carried out drone attacks inside its territory but did not confirm the casualty figures. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the operations, describing them as a violation of sovereignty.

These clashes came after Pakistani airstrikes on Friday morning targeted areas in Kabul, Kandahar, Paktika, and Paktia. The Taliban stated that the strikes resulted in civilian casualties.
