At a critical moment for the region, the city of Tal Tamr in al-Jazira Canton stands out as a model of social cohesion and organized administration. Like other cities in al-Jazira Canton, Tal Tamr has entered a state of general mobilization in response to the call issued by the Democratic Autonomous Administration DAA, within the framework of protecting civilians.

In this context, the co-chair of the Tal Tamr City Council, Kulikhan Sofi, spoke in an interview with ANHA agency about the features of the current phase and the mechanisms in place to ensure the continuity of services and to organize the community to play its role in self-protection within a responsible civilian framework.

Kulikhan Sofi emphasized that the declaration of general mobilization was not merely an emergency measure, but rather the result of a careful assessment of the field situation. She noted that it aims to raise societal and institutional readiness, organize popular energies, and direct them toward protecting civilians from attacks and threats issued by mercenaries of the Interim Government, while maintaining stability in daily life.

She pointed out that this phase requires a high level of awareness from all segments of society, as well as close cooperation between the council, the communes, and neighborhood committees to ensure responsible handling of developments.

Regarding practical measures, Kulikhan Sofi explained that the council has intensified its meetings with neighborhood committees, protection committees, and service institutions, and has raised the level of internal coordination. This is aimed at closely monitoring the general situation, identifying residents’ urgent needs, ensuring rapid response to any emergency, and maintaining the regular functioning of administrative and service-related work.

She confirmed that the council is operating according to a clear plan based on the distribution of tasks and activating the role of the local community as a key partner in managing this phase.

The co-chair stressed that the state of general mobilization has not affected the continuity of essential services; rather, it has increased the importance of organizing and protecting them. The council continues to secure water and electricity within available capacities, monitor the health situation, support health centers, ensure the operation of bakeries and the provision of bread, maintain sanitation and environmental services, and monitor markets and basic commodities.

She explained that maintaining service stability constitutes a fundamental pillar of residents’ resilience and prevents the worsening of living burdens during this sensitive stage.

On how the community organizes itself for self-protection, Kulikhan Sofi affirmed that the foundation lies in conscious and responsible organization. She stated that this is achieved through activating protection committees in neighborhoods and communes, strengthening cooperation and mutual support among residents, adhering to the guidance of relevant institutions, and preserving civil peace and the social fabric.

She clarified that protecting the city is not limited to security aspects alone, but also includes safeguarding social cohesion and preventing attempts to sow discord or destabilize the area.

In concluding her remarks, the co-chair of the Tal Tamr City Council, Kulikhan Sofi, addressed a message to the city’s residents, expressing her deep appreciation for the high level of public awareness and social solidarity, and affirming that unity and organization are the strongest weapons in confronting challenges.
