Syrian Women's Council continues its preparatory meetings

The Syrian Women's Council, in coordination with the Kongra Star, held an expanded meeting in the city of Amuda in al-Jazira Canton as part of its ongoing preparations for a future Syrian women's conference. The meeting was attended by members of the council, women's organizations, and representatives of civil society institutions. The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Democratic Union Party (PYD).

The meeting began with a moment of silence, followed by a speech by Arifa Bakr, administrator of the Diplomatic Relations Committee of the Syrian Women's Council. She spoke about the challenges Syrian women have faced, including marginalization and exclusion over the years, stressing that the council is working to guarantee women's rights in the upcoming Syrian constitution.

She said, "Syrian women, both at home and abroad, must consider the Syrian Women's Council a representative body that defends their rights and expresses their issues. We are working to ensure that the Council has a comprehensive impact on the lives of all Syrian women."

She added, "Your resistance and struggle are the foundation for building the institutions of the future Syria."

For her part, Mona Youssef, an administrator in the Council, emphasized that women organized themselves during the Rojava Revolution and achieved tangible gains in the areas of rights and representation. She said, "We continue the struggle to guarantee the rights of all Syrian women, and our goal is to unify the women's ranks and include women's rights in the new Syrian constitution."

Mona pointed to the importance of pluralism and women's representation from various components, praising the Council's development after the fall of the former regime, which has given it a broader scope to organize its activities and activate the role of women in the political and social arena.

Discussions and Recommendations from Participants

The meeting witnessed broad engagement from the participating women, who emphasized the importance of these meetings in listening to their opinions and aspirations, and considered it a blessed step towards enhancing women's participation in public life. They pointed out that the opening of women's centers marked a turning point in the reality of Syrian women, as they are no longer subject to patriarchal ideology and the authoritarian regime, as they were in the past.

They emphasized that the Syrian Women's Council seeks to represent all Syrian women, expressing their hope that the voices of Syrian women will resonate everywhere and that they will play an active role in building a democratic society that guarantees their rights and reflects their aspirations.

Ongoing Activity and Upcoming Preparations

The Council confirmed that it will continue holding meetings and activities in various cities and provinces, with the aim of introducing the Council to families and women and strengthening communication with all segments of the women's community.

The meeting concluded with the slogan: "Women, Life, Freedom."
