The Syrian external arena has recently witnessed Arab diplomatic moves towards the Damascus government, including Saudi Arabia sending its ambassador to Damascus, and Bashar al-Assad also attended the Arab summit meeting in the Bahraini capital, at a time when there were reports of American meetings with the Damascus government, coinciding with some flexibility from the White House. About the latter.

The Syrian opposition politician and researcher, Marah al-Bikai, does not see any change in the American and Arab position towards the Damascus government, noting that it is an effort to block the path to Iran.

She said: "The United States' position on the Syrian regime has not changed, but freezing the decision to prevent normalization with the Assad regime is related to the Arab countries' desire not to leave a vacuum in which Iran acts as it pleases in Syria."

She pointed out that "the opening of the Saudi embassy in Damascus and its movement will close the door to the pretexts for Arab absence, and will make Iran feel that there is an Arab weight from major countries present on Syrian soil, so that Iran will not be unique in making decisions in Syria in the previous way in light of the Arab vacuum."

It believes that the political presence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, due to the recent reconciliation between Iran and Saudi Arabia, may contribute to putting pressure on Iran in the Syrian file.
