Syrian Interim Govt dismisses 309 employees in Latakia’s agriculture sector

The decision, which comes amid ongoing economic deterioration, has triggered broad public anger due to its economic and humanitarian implications. Those dismissed include employees from various specializations and job categories, many of whom had spent long years serving the agricultural sector. For most, their monthly income constituted the primary, if not the sole, source of support for their families.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that the employees were notified of the termination of their contracts without any clear alternatives, compensation plans, or social support programs. This has deepened concerns and job insecurity, particularly in light of rising living costs and shrinking employment opportunities in Latakia and other areas under the control of the Syrian Interim Government.

Earlier today, ANHA correspondent also reported that the Interim Government had terminated the contracts of more than 100 healthcare workers in the city of Masyaf, amid a lack of transparent criteria and accusations that the decisions were driven by sectarian considerations.
