The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported today that security forces affiliated with the interim government in Syria carried out widespread raids and arrest campaigns targeting civilian young men, without presenting clear legal charges or official judicial warrants.

The Observatory stated that the number of detainees reached 49 young men since the beginning of the month. They were arrested through house raids or at security checkpoints spread between cities and towns.

Sources indicated that the vast majority of those arrested are Kurds, and they were transferred to unknown detention centers. In the absence of human rights oversight, this has raised growing concern among their families regarding their fate.
