Six people killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza Strip

The spokesperson for the Civil Defense Authority in the Gaza Strip, Mahmoud Basal, reported that six people were killed as a result of Israeli airstrikes during the past 24 hours.

Basal told Agence France-Presse that civil defense crews recorded “six martyrs and several wounded following airstrikes targeting civilians in Gaza City and Khan Younis during the past twenty-four hours.”

He explained that “two of the victims, who were police officers, were taken to Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, along with several wounded. One of the injured later died after an Israeli drone struck a police post in the Al-Amal neighborhood north of Khan Younis.”

He added that “three other victims were transferred to Al‑Shifa Hospital in Gaza City after a drone targeted a group of civilians on Friday evening in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood east of the city.”

For its part, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that “the total number of people killed who arrived at hospitals over the past 48 hours reached seven.” The ministry added that “the overall toll since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023, has reached 72,234 killed and 171,852 injured,” figures that the United Nations considers credible.

The ministry also noted that the figures include “91 victims who were recently recovered from under the rubble after their data had been fully verified.”
