Siege on Kobani continues for 23rd day

The city of Kobani has been under siege for 23 days by factions of the Syrian Interim Government, preventing the entry of supplies and basic materials into the city, which has led to a worsening of the humanitarian situation and increased the suffering of the residents and displaced people

The siege imposed by the Syrian Interim Government factions on the city of Kobani entered its 23rd day, as meetings continued between delegations from the city administration and representatives of the Interim Government, within the framework of the January 29 agreement, without reaching an agreement to end the crisis.

The siege has exacerbated the humanitarian and living conditions inside the city, with residents experiencing a severe shortage of medicine and baby formula, in addition to a significant scarcity of food and basic necessities, further increasing the suffering of the population under the current circumstances.

Meanwhile, the Kobani Electricity Body announced on Monday that its technical teams had successfully repaired the cables damaged by the recent attacks, allowing for the restoration of electricity to the city after an outage.

Despite the ongoing siege, Kobani is hosting more than 200,000 displaced people, distributed across approximately 70 shelters within the city, who sought refuge there after fleeing attacks on their areas in recent months.

The people of Kobani affirm their continued resilience in the face of the siege, stressing that resistance is their choice to preserve the gains achieved in recent years
