Siblings of Imrali detainees submit new request to visit them

The brother of leader Abdullah Ocalan and the siblings of other detainees in Imrali Prison have submitted a new request to Turkish authorities to visit them.

Today, leader Abdullah Ocalan's brother, Muhammad Ocalan, through his lawyer Mazlum Dinç, as well as the brother of detainee Omer Hayri Kunar, Ali Kunar, the brother of Hamili Yildirim, Polat Yildirim, and the sister of Veysi Aktaş, Meliha Aktaş, submitted a new request to the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bursa, Turkey, and the Directorate of Imrali Prison to meet with them.

The lawyers from the Al-Asr Human Rights Office submit two requests each week to the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bursa and the Directorate of Imrali Prison for these meetings. Similarly, the detainees' families also submit two requests each week, totaling 16 requests per month, without receiving any response.

It is noteworthy that the last meeting with the leader by his lawyers, Rezan Sarija and Newroz Uysal, took place on August 7, 2019, while the last contact with the outside world occurred on March 25, 2021, during a 5-minute phone call with his brother Muhammad Ocalan, which was then abruptly cut off.
