Siblings of Imrali detainees submit new meeting request

The brother of leader Abdullah Ocalan and the siblings of other detainees in Imrali Prison have submitted a new request to the Turkish authorities to meet with them.

Today, Abdullah Ocalan's brother, Mehmet Ocalan, through his lawyer Mazlum Dinc, as well as the brother of detainee Omer Khairi Kunar, Ali Kunar, the brother of Hamili Yildirimi, Polat Yildirim, and the sister of Veysi Aktaş, Meliha Aktaş, submitted a new request to the office of the Chief Public Prosecutor in the Turkish city of Bursa and the Imrali Prison Directorate to meet with their relatives.

Lawyers from the Al-Asr Human Rights Office submit two requests every week to the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bursa and the Imrali Prison Directorate to meet with the detainees. Their families also submit two requests weekly, amounting to 16 requests per month, without receiving any response.

It is worth noting that the last meeting with the leader by his lawyers, Rezan Sarıca and Newruz Uysal, was on August 7, 2019. His last contact with the outside world was on March 25, 2021, during a 5-minute phone call with his brother Mohammed Ocalan, which was then cut off.
