The head of the Supreme Alawite Islamic Council in Syria and the diaspora, Sheik Ghazal Ghazal, said that the authority in Syria does not treat society as a source of legitimacy, but rather as a tool for negotiation, relying on a consistent approach of targeting Syrian components in rotation.

Ghazal explained that the latest of these policies was represented by the attack on the Kurds, followed by the assault on the original residents of Damascus, sometimes under the pretext of security and fighting remnants, and other times under the banner of state unity and preventing division.

He added that the pretexts shift between combating weapons and "militias" or raising the banner of "liberation," while the result remains the same: countless violations and massacres, suspended rights, and security granted and withdrawn according to the dictates of control, not according to the law or the rules of citizenship.

Ghazal emphasized that any promises or negotiations that are not based on clear foundations, do not stem from the people's demands, and do not rely on fundamental solutions proposed by the majority of Syrian components, remain without actual value, do not produce real stability, but rather lead to a postponement of the explosion.

Ghazal pointed out that the council announces its position clearly and responsibly, affirming that they are not advocates of escalation nor do they resort to threats. However, at the same time, they reject any settlements made over blood, half-solutions, attempts at appeasement thru temptations, or whitewashing crimes under the guise of reform and stability.

He emphasized that the council will not be a cover, fuel, or hostage to a system that has failed to build a state, affirming that existence, security, and partnership are legal and political rights and entitlements that will be reclaimed in full, without concession or compromise.

Sheik Ghazal said that the council and the community members have a cause with clear features, a cause of a people that does not accept fragmentation or barter, emphasizing that attempts to personalize it, reduce it, or link it to names, countries, or groups will not succeed in obscuring or ending it.

He added that the cause did not begin with a speech and will not end with a promise, and it did not lose with the fall of a position or framework, but was born with the first drop of blood shed by oppression, and it continues as long as the truth is usurped and justice is absent, and as long as there is a noble and honorable soul on this earth.

Ghazal concluded by asserting that what is happening today cannot be described as a national reconciliation or a genuine partnership, but rather as the management of a legitimacy crisis thru an imposed de facto authority, which has failed to establish a stable relationship with any Syrian component. Despite its failures on various internal levels, it seeks to solidify its position externally at any cost.
