Shahddadi women: lifting Leader's isolation is corner step to solve conflict  through politics way

On October 10, 2023, a wide global campaign was launched under the slogan: 

 "Freedom for Abdullah Ocalan, a political solution to the Kurdish issue."

 During this campaign, many capitals and cities around the world organized public events and political and cultural seminars in support of the demands for the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, and emphasized the necessity of moving towards a fair and comprehensive political solution to the Kurdish issue.

With the arrival of the year 2024, the second phase of the campaign began on March 1st, coinciding with pivotal occasions such as International Women's Day (March 8th), Nowruz (March 21st), and the birthday of leader Abdullah Ocalan (April 4th), which added a strong symbolic character to the continuation of the popular and political movement.

Following the historic call made by leader Abdullah Ocalan on February 27 of this year, titled "Peace and Democratic Society," the campaign entered its third phase, which is set to launch soon under the new slogan: "I want to meet leader Abdullah Ocalan." This demand embodies the popular will to end isolation and reopen the door to dialogue for lasting peace in the region.

In this context, ANHA's agency met with several women from the city of al-Shaddadi in al-Jazira region of North and East Syria to gather their opinions on this campaign and its demands.

Citizen Umayya Hajoub said: "What the Turkish occupation authorities are doing by imposing strict isolation on leader Abdullah Ocalan is an inhumane and unethical act. Despite the leader's messages calling for peace, brotherhood among peoples, and coexistence, Turkey continues its repressive practices."

She added: "Leader Abdullah Ocalan has turned Imrali Prison into an intellectual beacon that inspires generations, and he is a symbol of intellectual resistance and the struggle for justice and democracy."

For her part, Nabaa al-Sinjar said: "We strongly condemn and reject the continued isolation imposed on leader Abdullah Ocalan by the Turkish occupying state, despite his repeated messages calling for the transfer of the conflict from the military field to the space of political dialogue."

She concluded her speech by saying: "In his last message, the leader emphasized the need for a new charter based on the brotherhood of peoples and peaceful coexistence among all components and sects, which constitutes a fundamental shift in the prevailing intellectual and political model."
