Security forces redeployment nears completion

According to the agreement signed between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian Interim Government, the process of redeploying military and internal security forces is nearing completion.

The agreement concluded between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian Interim Government in Syria was signed on January 29, 2026, and officially announced on January 30. Its implementation began on February 2 of this month. Within the framework of implementing the agreement, delegations from Damascus and Rojava held meetings and discussions in Jazira and Kobani on February 2, during which the necessary plans were established.

Based on those plans, the provisions of the agreement began to be implemented, with the primary focus placed on the military and security forces.

Since February 10, the redeployment of military forces and Internal Security Forces has been carried out in the Jazira Canton and Kobani.

According to the agreement, the Syrian Democratic Forces will be organized into four brigades—three in the Jazira and one in Kobani. Alongside the reorganization of these brigades, the Syrian Democratic Forces and the factions affiliated with the Interim Government have begun withdrawing from city centers and handing over their positions to the Internal Security Forces (Asayish).

In the regions of Rojava—namely Hasakah, Tel Tamr, al-Darbasiyah, Amuda, Qamishlo, Tirbespiyeh, Çial Agha, Garkê Legê, Derik, and Kobani—the Syrian Democratic Forces have begun stabilizing in their designated positions, to be replaced in urban centers by the Internal Security Forces (Asayish). So far, the redeployment process has been completed in Hasakah, Qamishlo, Garkê Legê, Tirbespiyeh, Çil Agha, and the Sheikh Maqsoud areas of Kobani, while the process continues in other locations across Jazira and Kobani.

For its part, forces affiliated with the Interim Government have so far withdrawn from parts of Hasakah and Kobani toward their designated positions.
