Second day of Social Democratic Alliance in Arab World conference resumed

Today, the second day of the "Conference of the Social Democratic Alliance in the Arab World" began in the city of Sulaymaniyah in Southern Kurdistan.

A delegation from the North and East Syria region participated in the conference, consisting of: Co-chair of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), Gharib Hasso; members of the party's presidential body, Fawza Yusuf and Salih Muslim; party spokesperson Sama Bakdash; a member of the Kongra Star Gulestan; and a member of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Hikmat al-Habib. A delegation from the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party from Northern Kurdistan also participated, along with a number of figures from 21 countries around the world.

The President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdul Latif Rashid, and the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Pafil Talabani, as well as senior officials and political figures from international socialist parties also participated.

Darbaz Kosrat Rasul Ali, a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan's (PUK) Political Bureau, opened the day's activities with a speech in which he welcomed the attendees and emphasized that Sulaymaniyah represents a stronghold of civil and democratic struggle. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between progressive parties to strengthen democracy and consolidate peace in the region.

Farid Zahran, head of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party, also delivered a speech in which he called for a clear stance against global hegemony and racism. He highlighted the humanitarian situation in Gaza and emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity among progressive parties to work toward development and democratic policies.

For his part, Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid welcomed the attendees and praised the role of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in promoting international socialism, emphasizing the continuation of the late President Mam Jalal's approach to supporting democracy and justice.

The second day is scheduled to include four main sessions. The first session will focus on "Building National and Regional Alliances and Supporting Democratic Rights, the State of Citizenship, and the Law." The second session will be devoted to "A Meeting of the Membership Committee with Representatives of Parties that have Applied for Membership in the Social Democratic Alliance in the Arab World." The third session will focus on "Cultural, Linguistic, and Religious Diversity as a Key Lever for Building a Unified and Democratic State." The sessions will conclude with the fourth meeting with "The International Coordination Committee of the Progressive Alliance and its International Partners to Explore Common Ground for Cooperation and Coordination."

The four-day conference aims to strengthen relations between Arab and Kurdish progressive forces and develop coordination between social democratic parties, with a focus on women's issues and their role in political decision-making at the central and local levels.
