SDF releases confessions of ISIS leader

The SDF Media Center issued a statement revealing serious confessions from an ISIS leader who was captured earlier this month.

The statement indicated that on December 7th, the Special Operations Forces (TOL) of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) conducted a precise and well-executed security operation, during which they arrested the mercenary Saher Ahmed al-Khalaf al-Abdullah, one of the most dangerous leaders of ISIS cells and the official responsible for supplying weapons, ammunition, and explosive devices. Quantities of weapons were also seized inside his home.

The statement explained that the mercenary confessed during interrogations to a series of operations in which he participated, in addition to revealing some of the mercenaries' plans in the region.

In his confessions, the mercenary stated that he is from the town of Hawaj Bu Musa'a in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside. He joined ISIS two years ago and carried out operations against the SDF, indicating that he participated in approximately 20 operations against the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Internal Security Forces.

In one of their operations, they also launched an attack on the home of a civilian who refused to pay "Zakat" (Islamic alms), and on a fuel tanker.

He indicated that they avoided carrying phones during operations for fear of their communications being exposed. After each operation, they would document the attack and send the recording to their leader in exchange for money.

He added that their meetings were held in major cities like Deir ez-Zor, where targets and their timing were planned.

He said he communicated with the cell leader via virtual communication applications and dealt in the field with a person nicknamed "Abu Ali Muheeb."

The statement confirmed that the mercenary confessed to being responsible for storing weapons, ammunition, and explosive devices in his home. He noted that the other mercenaries in the cell would cross the Euphrates River from the west bank as civilians without documents or weapons. They would communicate with him, and he would deliver weapons and explosives to them using motorcycles or by concealing them among vegetables or clothing for camouflage.

The SDF stated that these confessions clearly prove that no ISIS mercenary will escape justice, and that its forces "continue to dismantle terrorist cells and dry up their sources of support, in order to preserve the security of citizens and the stability of the region."
