SDF arrests ISIS mercenary in Tal Koçer

The Media Center of the SDF reported the capture of a mercenary belonging to an ISIS cell in the countryside of the Jazira Canton, North and East Syria. The announcement was made in a statement published on the SDF’s official website. The statement reads:

"On May 22nd, our military operations teams (TOL), affiliated with our forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces, and with the participation of the International Coalition forces, carried out a special security operation targeting the arrest of a terrorist from the cells of the “ISIS” terrorist organization in the “Tal Koçer” area.

The operation followed the monitoring of movements and activities of the terrorist named Waddah Marwan Taiesan, also known by the alias 'Al-Awdah,' a native of Tel Koçer itself. Our forces managed to locate him, imposed a tight security cordon around the area, and arrested him.

In his initial confessions, the terrorist Waddah admitted to being active in the propaganda and media field. He used multiple ISIS-affiliated Telegram accounts to promote and spread the organization’s ideology, encouraging young people to join its ranks under numerous fabricated lies and false claims. He also used live broadcasting methods to discuss and spread the organization’s extremist and takfiri ideology.

Our forces affirm their continued commitment to security operations against the cells of this terrorist organization and will not stop until ISIS is eradicated at its roots and all its physical and ideological structures are dismantled, to maintain the security and stability of North and East Syria."
