Franziska Stier, the Secretary General of the Swiss Strong Alternative Party “BastA” —a feminist, socialist, and environmentalist party that supports democratic causes and the rights of peoples—participated in the campaign on behalf of her party and sent a letter to Turkish Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, requesting a meeting with Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

In the letter dated June 7, 2025, it was stated that the “Peace and Democratic Society” call launched by Leader Abdullah Ocalan on February 27 had a significant impact on the international stage.

Stier noted that the call represents “a historic opportunity to build a livable world,” adding that “unless we meet with Mr. Ocalan, we cannot fully understand his ideas.” Therefore, she demanded that the meeting with Leader Apo take place without restrictions or obstacles.

She added: “For the future of Turkey, Kurdistan, and the Middle East, possibilities for an equitable and democratic solution must be created.”

The European Forum for Freedom and Peace (EFFP) has launched a campaign under the title “I Want to Visit Abdullah Ocalan” to demand the physical freedom of the Leader who has been imprisoned on Imrali Island in Turkey for over two decades. The forum has called on supporters to send emails and official requests to the Turkish Ministry of Justice, demanding permission to visit him, in addition to using the hashtag #VisitOcalan on virtual platforms to pressure the authorities.
