SDC stresses importance of Arab role to resolve Syrian crisis

According to the official website of the SDC, its General Council held its regular meeting in the city of Hasaka, in the presence of the co-chair of the council, Leila Qaraman, and representatives of the political and civil parties and components in the SDC, from inside Syria and from abroad via "Zoom" application.

 The meeting opened with a reading of a comprehensive political assessment presented by the Presidency of the Council, in which it addressed the most prominent international, regional and local developments, and their repercussions on Syria and its people.

 Qaraman stressed the importance of strengthening the internal front in the North and East of Syria region, praising in this context the qualitative experience provided by the Deir ez-Zor regions.

 She focused on the openness of the SDC to dialogue with all Syrian parties, and stressed the Syrian national identity, decentralization, and the importance of national dialogue.

 She pointed out that the "Astana" meetings could not achieve what the Syrians aspire to, except for the fact that they seek to preserve the interests of some parties at the expense of the rights of the Syrian people.

 She also stressed the need for Arab countries to play an effective role in resolving the Syrian crisis and not dragging Syria into a regional war, considering that the circumstances that the region is going through in general are sensitive and are facing important changes.

 The discussions also expressed optimism about the pivotal role that Arab countries can play in finding a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254.

 The Co-chair Dr. Mahmoud Al-Muslat, who participated via Zoom from the United States, also spoke about the meetings he held with the Syrian community and representatives of political figures there.
