SDC: DAA represents vital role in ensuring balance, avoiding civil war

Following the collapse of the previous Syrian regime and the ascendancy of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in Damascus, both Syrian political and social forces, as well as international actors, have expressed concerns about the new regime’s hardline ideology. The appointment of exclusivist figures to key government positions has raised alarms over the future of political and social pluralism in the country.

 Against this backdrop, SDC’s Hassan Mohammed Ali asserted that the Autonomous Administration’s governance model has gained both domestic and international acceptance as a stabilizing political and administrative framework for Syria. He described the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) as the fulcrum preventing the country from descending into a new sectarian or civil war.

 He further revealed that reports from inside Syria, particularly from coastal regions and Homs, indicate widespread human rights violations that have alarmed various Syrian communities. These concerns have been conveyed to SDC, which in turn has relayed them to the international community through recent diplomatic visits to European countries.

 Calls for a Civil Democratic State

 Mohammed Ali highlighted that the post-regime violations and the entry of factions allied with HTS into power have pushed Syrian political and social forces to seek engagement with MSD, seeing it as a beacon of hope for establishing a civil, democratic state.

 He stated that SDC is actively reviewing messages from various Syrian communities to build a framework for cooperation and chart a clear vision for Syria’s future. He called for serious Syrian-led efforts to draft a constitution that ensures equality, justice, and the rights of all components, emphasizing that this was the original goal of the Syrian revolution.

 Mohammed Ali also pointed to clear international demands for Syria’s future governance, focusing on:Ensuring diversity, protecting human rights and guaranteeing the rights of all societal components

 He underscored that the unity of North and East Syria’s communities, along with their solidarity with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)—which played a pivotal role in defeating ISIS mercenaries—positions the Autonomous Administration as a key player in shaping Syria’s new political landscape.

 Warning Against Turkey’s Expansionist Ambitions

 Regarding ongoing talks between the SDF and Damascus, Mohammed Ali made it clear that the foremost priority is halting Turkey’s occupation attacks on North and East Syria. He warned that continued Turkish aggression would fuel chaos, destabilizing not only the region but all of Syria.

 Concluding his remarks, he revealed that SDC is engaged in talks with several international players, including the United States, Germany, France, the UK, and Arab states. He strongly condemned Turkey’s militarized approach, asserting that its imperialist ambitions are not confined to one area but represent a wider threat to Syria’s future.
