The Secretary-General of the Kurdish Democratic Left Party in Syria, Saleh Gado, commented to ANHA agency on the recent developments in Syria, the situation of the Kurds in Rojava, and the efforts made to achieve Kurdish unity.

Saleh Gado explained that the Kurdish people in Rojava are going through a historical and sensitive stage, as the Kurds have been leading a revolution since the uprising of March 12, 2004, and have sacrificed thousands of martyrs to achieve many gains and achievements. "Now a new phase has begun. We, as the Autonomous Administration and the parties close to the Autonomous Administration, since the first day of the fall of the regime, have expressed our readiness to negotiate with the new government in order to build a democratic Syria."

Efforts to achieve Kurdish unity continue

Salih Gado stated that there have been negotiations between the Kurdish National Unity Parties (PYNK) and the Kurdish National Council of Syria (ENKS) years ago, and now these efforts are ongoing.

Gado added that some countries also support them in this matter, and said that on December 9, 2024, under the title "Let's establish Kurdish unity in this crisis", PYNK parties met and a French delegation also participated.

"A common point of view came out"

Gado explained that the meeting reached a common point of view: "We are ready for dialogue without conditions, we have conveyed our voice to the Kurdish National Council, and we will meet with them whenever they want. If there are differences between us, let's put those differences aside."

The French delegation met with ENKS

Saleh Gado pointed out that the French delegation met with the Kurdish National Council after their meeting as well, but so far it has not received any response from them, and continued: "What we hear from the Kurdish National Council is; we are part of the opposition in Istanbul (the coalition), and our contacts will be through the opposition."

"We know that the opposition is linked to the agenda of a regional state that wants to destroy the Kurds, and this is a big problem," Gado said.

The Turkish state is trying to eliminate the Kurds in many ways

Saleh Gado highlighted the crimes of the Turkish occupation state against the Kurdish people in Rojava, and stated that the Turkish state wants to displace the Kurds, remove them from their lands and eliminate them by fabricating war and pressuring international powers and countries that are abandoning the Syrian crisis.

"With unity we will protect our people"

Saleh Gado stressed that they want to "protect the Kurdish people by achieving unity and strengthening their solidarity within the framework of the change that Syria is witnessing to guarantee their rights. In this historical situation, Kurdish political movements must at least achieve unity. When we have one position, our friends will support us and I think we will be able to reach an agreement."

"Dual attitudes must end"

He stated that the occupiers of Kurdistan want to divide the Kurdish people, weaken them by partition, and put one side of the Kurds at their service, so a stand must be taken against this.

"The duality of the Kurdish political movement in Rojava Kurdistan must be ended, the Kurdish parties must help achieve unity and allow the parties in Rojava to make their own independent decision," he said.

At the end of his speech, the Secretary-General of the Kurdish Democratic Left Party in Syria, Saleh Gado, called on all Kurdish parties and movements to make the interests of the Kurdish people in Syria their first demand, to protect the rights of their people in a Kurdish spirit.
