Russian Official: More than 90 mercenaries killed, wounded in Idlib

“Russian forces killed 34 fighters and wounded more than 60 in air strikes on targets in Syria’s Idlib,” the Russian Interfax news agency reported late Sunday, citing the deputy head of the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria.

Interfax quoted Admiral Vadim Collet as saying, “The Russian Air Force carried out air strikes in Idlib on targets of illegal armed groups involved in bombing the positions of Syrian government forces.”

Collet said that within 24 hours, Syrian government forces positions were attacked seven times.

In a related context, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that Damascus government forces bombed with heavy artillery shells the towns of Al-Fatira, Sufuhan, Fleifel and Al-Bara in the Jabal Al-Zawiya area in the southern countryside of Idlib, and also bombed the village of Kafr Amah in the western countryside of Aleppo.

The Al-Kabina axis in the Jabal al-Akrad area in the northern countryside of Latakia witnessed an exchange of mortar shells between Damascus government forces and the “Al-Fath Al-Mubin” mercenaries, and the Al-Mashrou’ axis in the Al-Ghab Plain area in the western Hama countryside witnessed an exchange of shelling with heavy machine guns.
