Resistance against Tishreen Dam become historical symbol of people's struggle

Residents of cities in the North and East Syria region have continued their protest against the Tishreen Dam since January 8, rejecting the ongoing attacks launched by the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries.

The Tishreen Dam is one of the most vital infrastructures in the region. By targeting it, the Turkish state seeks to undermine the foundations of life and pressure the region's residents to impose its policies. However, the residents' resolve stands as a stumbling block to these plans.

In an interview with ANHA agency, Ibrahim Qader, a citizen protesting against the Tishreen Dam, said, "We are continuing our peaceful resistance to protect the dam from barbaric attacks. The Turkish occupation is trying to subjugate us by targeting the basics of our lives, but we will not submit. We will remain steadfast until victory is achieved."

Qader pointed out that their morale is derived from the steadfastness of the fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) on the battlefields, affirming his full support for them until the end.

For her part, citizen Jalila Muhammad said, "The resistance at Tishreen Dam has become a historical symbol of the struggle of peoples, especially those who have united their blood in defense of land and life. I am the mother of the martyre Kobani and the mother of fighters in the Syrian Democratic Forces, and I promise my children and their comrades that I will continue to support them until my last breath."

Jalila Mohammed added, "All the people of NE Syria continue to stand with this heroic resistance and are prepared to make more sacrifices for the sake of the land and the dam."

Among the participants was 8-year-old Kajin Ali, who accompanied her mother to the sit-in site. She spontaneously and courageously said, "We will not leave our dam to the enemies. It is ours, and we will protect it no matter how hard they try to intimidate us."

Othman Oussi, who suffers from chronic illnesses and is protesting against the dam, emphasized, "Protecting the homeland is a moral and patriotic duty, and nothing will prevent me from heeding this call. I will continue to come to the dam despite my illness, and we will not retreat until the aggression stops and the will of our people is fulfilled."

The Tishreen Dam sit-in embodies collective steadfastness in the face of attacks and attempts to impose a blockade. Feelings of pride and defiance among residents grow with each day of resistance.
