Relative calm in Jazira, Kobani amid ongoing general mobilization

Most contact lines between the Syrian Democratic Forces in the Jazira and Kobani regions have seen relative calm, while residents persist in protecting their neighborhoods and cities alongside their forces and the Women’s Protection Units, stressing that protection is a national responsibility incumbent upon every individual.

Meanwhile, people from all segments of the region are organizing themselves into committees to protect their communities in accordance with principles of self-defense.

Against this backdrop, the influx of residents from southern, northern, and eastern Kurdistan into Rojava continues to join the general mobilization. Residents emphasize that the Kurdish people face the threat of genocide, necessitating a continued response to the call by Kurds and people of Kurdistan everywhere, both at home and in the diaspora.

In parallel, thousands of displaced families have arrived in cities across the Jazira Canton, including Derik, Girkê Legê, Çil Agha, Tirbespiyê, Qamishlo, Amuda, Al-Darbasiyah, and Hasakah. Teams from the Kurdish Red Crescent, along with communes and city and neighborhood councils, are providing essential supplies, including food, shelter, and emergency services.

Conversely, residents of Kobani are suffering under a suffocating siege that threatens the lives of thousands due to cuts to electricity, water, medicines, and infant formula, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and placing the city before existential challenges that require an urgent response.
