Registration begins in Tell Tamer for Serê Kaniyê IDPs wishing to return

The Social Affairs and Labor Committee of the Tell Tamer City Council began registering the names of families displaced from the city of Serê Kaniyê who wish to return to their homes, with the aim of compiling their names and numbers in preparation for subsequent steps related to the return process.

Nalin Sido, a member of the Social Affairs and Labor Committee of the Tell Tamer City Council, said that the registration process began on Monday and, in its first phase, includes displaced people living in neighborhoods in the center of Tell Tamer and in its shelters.

She made clear that the registration process will later include displaced people living in the Assyrian villages and other villages who wish to return to the city of Serê Kaniyê, in order to complete the registration of their names.

She added that the registration aims to organize data on families wishing to return and determine their numbers, in preparation for subsequent steps related to their return to the city.

Earlier today, the first group of displaced people from Serê Kaniyê who had been living in camps set out for the city, as part of the return process that has begun to include a number of displaced families.

The registration process in Tell Tamer comes amid continued efforts to follow up on the case of those displaced from Serê Kaniyê, making it possible to identify those wishing to return from their various places of residence, in preparation for completing the procedures related to their return.
