Rabia border crossing between Syria, Iraq opened

The Iraqi General Authority of Customs announced the reopening of the Rabia border crossing between Syria and Iraq on Monday, following the completion of its rehabilitation and full equipping.

The Authority's Director General, Thamer Dawood, told the Iraqi News Agency that "the rehabilitation of the crossing has been fully completed, and the customs staff, the Border Crossings Authority, and supporting departments are now fully prepared to begin operations."

He noted that this step reflects a high level of preparedness and advanced operational capabilities, ensuring the launch of operations using a modern approach based on digital transformation and streamlined procedures.

Dawood made clear that the crossing holds significant economic, political, and security importance, indicating that it will be used for the exchange of goods and commodities and the export of fuel, which will contribute to strengthening state resources and stimulating economic activity in the region.

He added that "the reopening of the crossing will represent an additional economic artery alongside Al-Qaim and Al-Walid crossings."

For his part, Mazen Alloush; the relations director at the General Authority of Crossings and Customs, stated in a press release that the Yarubiyah (Rabia) border crossing with Iraq will be reopened on Monday.
