Qamishlo residents, Afrin displaced: Return, detainees' release is real celebration

The residents of Qamishlo city and the displaced people of Afrin and Shahba continue their preparations to celebrate Eid al-Fitr and Newroz, amid an atmosphere of holidays' joy intertwined with hopes of returning home, ending the suffering of displacement, and the release of captives and detainees.

In this context, ANHA agency met with a number of residents of Qamishlo and displaced people from Afrin and Shahba residing in the city. Khalidiya Darwish; a resident of Qamishlo, said, "We congratulate all people on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr and Newroz, and hope that we all live in affection and security, peace will prevail, and grace for our martyrs who sacrificed for us."

For her part, the child Duaa Jwan Musa expressed her hopes, saying, "We want our schools to reopen so we can continue our studies, for the war to stop and peace to prevail, and for the aspirations of our people to be fulfilled."

For her part, Hasna Khalil Hannan, one of the displaced people of Afrin, pointed to the suffering of the displaced, stressing, "When we return to our areas and homes, that will be the real celebration for us, and when our detainees are released, it will be the greatest celebration. We demand to return to Afrin so that our children, who have been deprived of education, can continue their studies."

Hassen Sido Bilal, who is also a displaced from Afrin, emphasized the demand to return, saying, "We demand to return to our homes, and that all our detainees be released. This is our main demand on this occasion."
